Migrate from Squarespace to Webflow

The reason people leave Squarespace is rarely the design; it is the ceiling. Custom layouts need code injection, interactions are limited, and the CMS bends only so far. Webflow removes that ceiling without handing you a codebase to maintain.

I rebuild the design rather than approximate it, then restructure the content properly so collections, categories and templates map to how your site actually works.

Squarespace’s export is worth looking at before quoting, because it covers less than people expect. It produces a WordPress-format XML file containing your layout pages, text and image blocks, and exactly one blog page with its posts. Everything else stays behind: store, portfolio, index, album and cover pages, anything in a page-specific header or footer, audio, video and product blocks, drafts, style settings and custom CSS. Squarespace says why plainly enough — much of the site depends on their own JavaScript and CSS, which is not yours to take.

On a real site that usually means the export covers a minority of the pages, and the rest arrive as text at best. The rebuild is the project; the export just saves some typing.
